From temples touched by golden hour to elephants walking through morning mist, this is a place that demands to be felt before it’s photographed. This guide breaks down my route, gear, and top moments across Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Krabi — for photographers and travelers alike.

📍 Days 1–4: Bangkok – Sacred Light & Street Life
Bangkok is loud and alive. It’s also deeply spiritual. Monks in orange robes walk barefoot at dawn, while motorbikes whiz past incense-filled alleyways.
Top Spots:
• Wat Arun: This “Temple of Dawn” glows during sunrise and sunset. Look for symmetry in the mosaics and shoot tight with a 70-200 if you want details.
• Grand Palace + Wat Phra Kaew: Iconic, crowded, but stunning. Early access or golden hour helps. Use your 24-70mm to balance portraits with detail.
• Street Life in Yaowarat & Khao San Road: Neon reflections, skewered street food, and endless expressions. Great place for your 85mm or 35mm if you’re bold.
Don’t Miss:
• Try Pad Thai from a street cart, and sip a cold Singha beer near the river.
• Riding in a tuk tuk is wild — shoot from the hip for candid chaos.

🏞️ Days 5–7: Chiang Mai – Culture, Forests & Faces
Cooler, calmer, and more personal — Chiang Mai is where the pace slows. It’s also where I made some of my most meaningful connections.
Top Moments:
• Elephant Sanctuary: We visited a non-riding, ethical sanctuary where Asian elephants roamed free. Watching them interact felt sacred.
• Karen Long Neck Tribe: A highlight. Warm, welcoming, and photogenic. I asked before shooting, and they were proud to share their stories.
• Doi Suthep Temple: Perched above the city, this golden temple at sunrise was one of the most peaceful places I’ve ever shot.
Bonus: Chiang Mai’s night markets are perfect for lens testing — fast primes, motion blur, and color. I also stumbled into MAYA Mall, which felt more L.A. than Thailand — the contrast was surreal.
🏝️ Days 8–11: Krabi – Boats, Beaches, and Raw Beauty
Krabi brings the dreamscape. Limestone cliffs, deep green water, and monkeys doing monkey things (one literally stole and ate an ice cream sandwich).
Where We Explored:
• Railay Beach: Accessible by boat, it’s a surreal mix of jungle, sea cliffs, and gibbons calling in the trees. Golden hour here is magic.
• Phi Phi Islands + 4-Island Tour: Took both a long-tail and speedboat. Used the DJI Action 5 Pro for motion shots. Incredible color contrast and energy.
• Ao Nang: Stayed near the beach — one dinner spot right on the water served seafood as the sun dipped over the Andaman Sea. Absolute vibe.
Top Food to Try:
• Khao Soi (again). You’ll miss it when you’re gone.
• Mango sticky rice? Regretfully, I skipped it. Don’t make my mistake.
